BEHO Group of Companies expand the Malaysian durian and agro-based products footprint into China and Japan.

Serdang, 22 November 2018 – The largest Malaysian agricultural expo (Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show or MAHA 2018), held biennially, today bore witness to five strategic memoranda of agreements between four Chinese companies, one Japanese company and three private Malaysian  companies under the BEHO Group of Companies, that will pave way to increased bilateral trade on Malaysian durian export to China and Japan; export of sterilised, raw, uncleaned edible bird’s nest to China and the import of broiler chicken to Malaysia.

These MOUs are a significant show of commitment that will set the groundwork for all parties to begin work on the regulatory, investment and logistical frameworks which, when realised will create considerable job opportunities, enhance co-operation, provide a robust agricultural knowledge transfer platform and open new consumer channels between the three countries. Witnessing the signing was the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Malaysia.

“The demand for durian in China is phenomenal, especially the Musang King variety and Chinese consumers are willing to pay top dollar for just a taste of one whole fruit. We are taking this opportunity to make inroads there to meet the robust demand of Malaysian durians.”
